The Great Highland Bagpipe a complex musical instrument – explorations

The Great Highland Bagpipe (GHB) is the most common bagpipe you will see, especially in Scotland but it is not the only type of bagpipe!  Even I have a second bagpipe called a small pipe that is similar to the GHB.  There are many more.  Historically, it is thought that the bagpipe originated somewhere in the middle-east and in fact there are many variations there still being played.   But, my instrument, the GHB is a descendent of designs that have existing in Scotland for hundreds if not thousands of years.
